Job Title: Children's Support Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children's Support Worker to join our team at a modern residential children's home in Bodmin. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting young people between the ages of 8-16 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours.

About the Role:

As a Children's Support Worker, you will be responsible for creating a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the social, emotional, and behavioral development of our young residents. Your primary focus will be on providing individualized support, guidance, and care to each young person, helping them to develop essential life skills and build positive relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Encourage and support young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives, depending on their age and abilities.
  • Maintain a homely and friendly culture within the home, ensuring a warm and welcoming environment for all residents.
  • Deal with challenging behaviors in a safe and sympathetic manner, using de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement strategies.
  • Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Provide support for young people in the home, promoting their independence and well-being, and helping them to develop essential life skills.
  • Maintain a safe environment for young people, ensuring that the home is free from hazards and risks.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals involved in the young people's lives.
Requirements:
  • Experience as a Children's Support Worker or with young people is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience within another healthcare or social care setting is also desirable but not essential.
  • You must be a car driver, as you will be required to transport young people from time to time.
  • You must be over the age of 21.
  • You must be able to commute to Bodmin.
