CNC Milling Machinist Job Description

We are seeking an experienced CNC Milling Machinist to join our team at Smiths Engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating 3 & 5 Axis CNC milling machining centres.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC milling machines to produce high-quality parts
  • Prove out programs to ensure smooth running of production batches
  • Inspect and finish machined parts to meet quality standards
  • Read and understand technical drawings to ensure accurate production
  • Work effectively in a team environment to meet production deadlines

Requirements:

  • Time served or level 3 engineering qualification at pass grade
  • Experience in CNC machining and setting/machining on milling machines
  • Competency in finishing and inspecting machined parts
  • Good attention to detail and ability to work accurately
  • Working knowledge of Heidenhain or Siemens controls

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in Vericut
  • CNC programming experience
  • Experience in Mastercam or similar CAM Software

Working Hours:

Dayshift - Monday to Thursday (8.30am - 5.00pm) and Friday (8.30am - 4.00pm). Ability to work 12 hour shifts will be essential after training period.
