About the Job

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diagnostic Radiography Specialist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with expertise in mammographic imaging to work within our Breast Unit, contributing to the delivery of high-quality radiographic services.

Key Responsibilities

  • To provide expert diagnostic imaging services in the Breast Screening and Assessment Centre based at the RVI and in the community on 3 breast screening trailers that move around the North East region.
  • To work collaboratively with the Superintendent Radiographer to deliver a screening, assessment, and symptomatic service, while maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues.
  • To make informed decisions on diagnostic images required and demonstrate a professional, caring, and responsible approach to patients.
  • Potential commitment to evening and weekend working.

Requirements

  • Degree in Diagnostic or Therapeutic Radiography, HCPC registered, and postgraduate qualification in Mammographic studies or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of NHS policies and procedures, including radiation protection and ionising radiation legislation (IR (ME) R).
  • IT skills necessary for Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
  • Current driving licence and access to a car essential due to the need to travel between locations.
