Housing Support Supervisor

Objective

To assist Housing Support Officers in delivering housing-related assistance to residents of Caridon Group, enabling them to sustain their tenancies and fulfill their goals for independent living. This role involves overseeing the daily operations, assessment, enhancement, and provision of our supported housing services in accordance with established standards.

Core Responsibilities

  • Foster positive relationships with clients and ensure the team effectively implements personal housing plans.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to direct clients towards specialized support services.
  • Engage with residents and the team to pinpoint and implement service enhancements.
  • Establish connections with referral sources, including Single Homeless Teams and relevant partner organizations, to secure optimal support for clients.
  • Report maintenance concerns to the maintenance team and service.
  • Conduct monthly supervision sessions for Housing Support Officers.
  • Assist Housing Support Officers with guidance on benefits, applications, appeals, and ensuring benefits align with client needs.
  • Support Housing Support Officers with intricate cases while managing a residual caseload.
  • Ensure that all housing support plans and risk assessments are consistently updated by the team.
  • Document and report safeguarding issues in accordance with Caridon Group's policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and update relevant internal systems such as Arthur, Nourish, and Plantific.
  • Oversee practices to ensure compliance with tenancy, behavior, payment, and eviction standards as per company policies.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports on voids, evictions, and arrears.
  • Achieve set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensure the service operates at a high-quality standard that meets customer service expectations.
  • Assist Housing Support Officers with Housing Benefit matters, including overpayments and arrears.
  • Guarantee that all Housing Benefit claims are submitted with the necessary documentation to avoid delays.
  • Address and escalate client complaints as needed.
  • Participate in multi-agency meetings to advocate for the needs of clients or Caridon Group.
  • Ensure adequate staff coverage during absences.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection regulations at all times.
  • Assist in the recruitment process for new staff and volunteers.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required by the service.

Communication

  • Contribute to the Group Newsletter.
  • Gather case studies, photographs, and field information for Public Relations purposes.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues.
  • Attend meetings as requested, including supervision sessions.
  • Ensure all communication is conducted in a professional manner.

Candidate Profile

Experience

  • A minimum of two years' experience in managing a small team.
  • Proven leadership capabilities.
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently while planning and monitoring the work of oneself and others.
  • Ability to provide quality direction, support, training, and coaching to colleagues to achieve high performance.
  • Maintain a non-judgmental professional relationship with vulnerable clients, including those with mental health challenges or substance misuse issues.
  • Experience working with individuals who have faced homelessness.
  • Strong communication skills with clients and peers.
  • Ability to work effectively without direct supervision, manage time efficiently, meet deadlines, and engage in training.
  • Ability to liaise positively with other agencies.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, including basic first aid, food hygiene, and infection control.

Skills and Competencies

  • Understanding of housing-related legislation and the ability to stay updated with industry changes.
  • Proficient in computer applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, and the Internet).
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Capability to demonstrate initiative and perform well under pressure.
  • Problem-solving skills for complex issues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Act as a role model within the team, sharing knowledge and experience while valuing the contributions of others.
  • Must possess a full UK driving license.
