We are seeking a highly skilled Public Health Specialist to join our team in Aberdeen, Scotland. As a Public Health Specialist, you will play a vital role in promoting health improvement, reducing health inequalities, and protecting public health.

The successful candidate will work closely with our multi-disciplinary team of Public Health Consultants, Nurse Specialists, Health Improvement Specialists, and Public Health managers. You will have the opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of public health practice, including health protection, health improvement, and health inequalities reduction.

NHS Grampian provides health and social care services to a population of over 500,000 people in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, and Moray. Our team is committed to delivering high-quality services that meet the needs of our community.

This is an excellent opportunity for both medically and non-medically qualified candidates to develop their skills and expertise in public health. The post is open to candidates who meet the eligibility criteria for the national Public Health Training scheme.

As a Public Health Specialist, you will be appointed on Agenda for Change terms and conditions. Salary will be based on Band 8D, proportionate to the year of training being undertaken.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of public health strategies and policies
  • Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to promote health improvement and reduce health inequalities
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on public health issues
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including local authorities and community groups

Requirements:

  • Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC
  • Eligibility for the national Public Health Training scheme
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
