Job Title: Maintenance Engineer

Location: Gateshead/Tanfield

Reporting To: Operations Director

Subordinates: None

Overall Purpose:

To ensure that machinery and equipment runs smoothly and reliably.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and Implement Maintenance Plans: Create a comprehensive maintenance plan for all machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  2. Identify and Implement Critical Spares: Identify critical spares required to reduce downtime and implement a system to ensure timely procurement and availability.
  3. Routine Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance on all assets and site to prevent breakdowns and ensure smooth operation.
  4. Maintenance Policies and Procedures: Establish and maintain maintenance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  5. Breakdown Response and Repair: Respond to breakdowns, diagnose faults, and oversee the repair of equipment and testing to minimize downtime.
  6. Supervision and Management: Supervise contractors, engineering and technical staff, and manage the procurement of specialist components, fixtures, or fittings within the engineering budget.
  7. Inventory Management: Manage stocks of supplies and equipment to ensure optimal levels and minimize waste.
  8. Equipment Installation and Testing: Install equipment (where possible) and oversee all equipment required for installation to ensure smooth operation.
  9. Facilities Maintenance: Ensure that designated buildings, plant, and facilities are fit for purpose and provide proactive support/solutions when required.
  10. Health and Safety: Work within company Health and Safety Rules & BRCGS Standards to ensure a safe working environment.
  11. Record Keeping: Keep records of faults and repairs to track maintenance history and identify areas for improvement.
  12. Continuous Improvement: Improve health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
