Job Title: Archaeology and Heritage Consultant

Neo Environmental Ltd, an award-winning planning and environmental consultancy, is seeking an experienced Archaeology and Heritage Consultant to join our team in Ballymena or remotely within Ireland. This exciting opportunity will allow the successful candidate to work on a diverse range of projects, collaborating with our environmental services team and clients to deliver high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct archaeological and heritage impact assessments, EIA chapters, feasibility studies, fieldwork reports, and other documents as required for projects in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
  • Liaise and communicate effectively with team members, clients, local authorities, and sub-contractors to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Provide expert advice on archaeology and heritage matters within planning and development design, supporting the environmental team and clients.
  • Develop and manage project quotes, ensuring financial aspects are accurately accounted for.
  • Participate in fieldwork duties, including walkover surveys, watching briefs, evaluations, and excavations, as necessary.
Requirements:
  • Degree in archaeology or a related subject.
  • Excellent report writing skills and technical competence in GIS.
  • Highly motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Full driving license and own transport.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Good knowledge of general archaeology within Ireland and Northern Ireland.
  • Familiarity with GIS and experience with producing formal reports and/or input to planning applications.
  • Postgraduate qualification in a heritage, archaeology, or planning discipline.
  • Membership of the Institute of Archaeologists (IAI).
