About the Role

We are working in collaboration with a Local Authority in Waltham Forest to assist with the appointment of a SEND Commissioning Officer on a 3-month contract, which may be extended at the client's discretion.

As a Senior SEND Commissioning Specialist, you will lead the commissioning of services for children and young people with Special Educational Needs, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and best practices.

The successful candidate will have experience in a commissioning or contract management role, preferably within the SEND education or health sectors, and possess strong knowledge of SEND legislation, policies, and best practices within the UK.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders, including service providers, local authority colleagues, health professionals, educational institutions, and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive needs analyses, gathering and analyzing data to inform commissioning decisions.
  • Develop, negotiate, and monitor contracts with external providers to ensure the effective delivery of high-quality services that meet the needs of children, young people, and their families.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to manage budgets effectively, ensuring value for money and efficient use of resources.
