Assistant Psychologist Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis in Wirral Mental Health Support Team, Children and Young People’s Mental Health Service (CYPMHS).



Main Responsibilities



  • To provide support and advice to school staff through consultation and training
  • To provide evidence-based interventions for children and young people with mild-moderate mental health difficulties on a 1-1 or group basis
  • To support schools in their development of a Whole School Approach to Mental Health


Key Requirements



  • A good honours degree in Psychology or above, with eligibility for Graduate Membership of BPS
  • The ability to communicate complex/sensitive information where barriers to understanding exist, and to make judgements involving a range of facts or situations requiring analysis or comparison of a range of options
  • Experience of working with children and young people, with a desire to progress to Clinical Training (DClinPsy)
