Waste Management Specialist

Westlakes Recruit is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Waste Coordinator to join our team on a 12-month contract. This is a site-based role located on the Sellafield Site in West Cumbria.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert advice and guidance on segregating, packaging, labeling, and storing waste.
- Coordinate multiple resources to facilitate waste disposal and ensure compliance with site procedures.
- Advise on isotopic fingerprints and waste stream characterization documents.
- Provide guidance on radioactive and non-radioactive disposal routes.
- Ensure all waste is removed from the plant/area in compliance with site procedures, Conditions for Acceptance, and Waste Acceptance Criteria.
- Liaise with the Waste Advisor for non-routine wastes, including non-radioactive waste.
- Provide information to the Waste Advisor for Waste Clearance Forms and Waste Routing Reports.
- Act promptly on non-compliance issues and participate in investigations as required.
- Represent the plant/area at stakeholder meetings.
- Provide information for waste forecasts.
- Support other team members, sharing knowledge and experience.
- Responsible for the safe delivery of specified site-based work packages.
- Responsible for the management of project wastes in line with Waste Management Plans.
- Able to reach SQEP status.
- Nuclear Decommissioning/Waste Management experience.
- Highly motivated, proactive, and flexible approach, with a willingness to travel to client sites as required.
- IOSH Working Safely certification.
- Good understanding of the waste hierarchy and awareness of waste routing and acceptance criteria/conditions for acceptance for these routes (VLLW, Combustible, Metallic Waste Treatment, LLW, ILW, and PCM).
- Interpersonal skills, able to build and develop relationships internally and externally.
- Maintain excellent relationships with customers and suppliers.
