Job Overview:
Leonardo is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our engineering team in Yeovil. As a Project Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of specific engineering milestones and projects in support of in-service contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute engineering projects in accordance with company methodologies, defining scope, programme, and budget.
- Manage the Systems Engineering process, including requirements capture, design, qualification, certification, and customer acceptance.
- Coordinate technical effort on UK Military aircraft projects, maintaining close liaison between functional areas within the Engineering Directorate.
- Represent the Project Engineering team in multi-functional teams, making product-level technical decisions.
- Ensure the maintenance of design documentation and records to satisfy company and customer requirements.
- Interrogate and manipulate company systems to produce data meeting department requirements.
- Provide technical interface with other LH directorates and external suppliers.
- Support platform CPEs in matters relating to airworthiness.
Requirements:
- Apprenticeship/HNC/HND/First degree level as a minimum or equivalent recognized by professional accreditation schemes or equivalent level of experience in aerospace engineering.
- Typically meets the requirements for registration as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer with the engineering Council and preferably is a member of a relevant Professional Body.
- Experience working in a regulated industry.
- Good knowledge of the Lynx/Wildcat platform.
- High level of knowledge of aircraft MAA regulations.
- Capability to autonomously work with external vendors and produce requirement specifications or statements of work.
- Ability to manage a medium/large team of multi-level capability engineers.
- Ability to grow and mentor junior engineers.
- Ability to review and critically assess own work and peer review the work of others.
- Experience of managing the interaction between related technical disciplines in a functional team is desirable.
- Confidence and ability to challenge/respond to technical/process issues and interact effectively with customers and suppliers.
- Expert communication skills necessary to develop and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
