Job Title: Level 3 Teaching Assistant

Prospero Teaching is working with an outstanding Primary School in South Shields to find an experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEN on a 1:1 basis. The role involves supporting pupils with their learning, managing challenging behaviour, and building positive relationships with Class Teachers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support a pupil with SEN and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis.
  • Manage challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive, and consistent manner.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with Class Teachers to support the pupil and discuss/implement strategies and learning activities to promote pupil progress.
  • Prepare resources for learning activities and lessons.
  • Supervise pupils at break times and lunch times as required.
  • Have a hands-on approach to supporting the pupils in their learning, with a willingness to interact, engage, and form a positive rapport with the pupil.
  • Liaise with parents and outside agencies to discuss progress as required.
Requirements:
  • An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service but this is not essential as we can process a new one for you).
  • Ideally a recognised Childcare-based qualification, although again, this is not essential.
  • An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
  • A resilient, proactive, and positive nature.
  • Experience of supporting pupils in a School setting.
  • Ideally experience of 1:1 Support within a School setting.
  • High levels of enthusiasm, energy, and positivity when working with pupils.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to fulfil their potential and flourish in education.
