Job Title: Environmental Hydraulic Modeller

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Hydraulic Modeller to join our team at JBA Consulting. As a key member of our Catchment and River Restoration team, you will play a crucial role in delivering projects that restore and enhance the natural environment.

About the Role:

This exciting opportunity will involve working on a variety of projects, including Natural Flood Management studies, River Restoration work, and catchment-scale assessments. You will be responsible for leading environmental hydraulic modelling, providing technical advice to clients, and mentoring junior staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading environmental hydraulic modelling, including 1D and 2D modelling, with a specialism in Hec-RAS and/or TUFLOW.
  • Providing technical advice to clients on River and Catchment Restoration.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior staff to develop their skills and expertise.
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary project team to deliver projects to time, budget, and quality requirements.
  • Presenting at client meetings and workshops, and engaging with stakeholders.
Requirements:

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with a strong background in environmental hydraulic modelling. You should have a broad experience and awareness of different NFM and river restoration approaches, and be able to communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.

Essential skills include:

  • Proficient in at least one 1D hydraulic modelling software and one 2D hydraulic modelling software.
  • Experience of undertaking site-based field work.
  • Good understanding of UK catchment hydrology.
  • Ability to mentor and support junior staff.
  • Experience using Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
Desirable Skills:

We are looking for individuals who are able to manage projects and project teams, and have experience of tender preparation and contract management.
