About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team at Hestia Housing Support. As a key member of our Mental Health & Complex Needs Service, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health and dual diagnosis to achieve their goals and live independently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and Well-being: Provide person-centred support and guidance to service users, using key-working and support planning to empower them to attain and sustain a tenancy, enjoy a good quality of life, and avoid hospitalization or relapse.
  • Assessment and Planning: Assess referrals, formulate and review support plans, risk management plans, and move-on plans with service users to ensure their needs are met and their goals are achieved.
  • Partnership Working: Collaborate with external agencies involved in the care and support of service users to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to their needs.
  • Social Inclusion and Skills Development: Support service users to participate in a range of socially inclusive activities and skills development opportunities to enhance their independence and well-being.
  • Health and Education: Advise on and broker access to health services, education, training, and employment opportunities to promote service users' overall well-being and independence.
  • Teamwork and Flexibility: Work flexibly as part of the team to ensure service coverage and meet contractual obligations.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience of working with individuals with mental health and dual diagnosis, with a focus on empowerment and independence.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with service users, colleagues, and external agencies.
  • Knowledge: Good knowledge of welfare benefits, housing options, and relevant legislation, as well as health and safety procedures.
  • Personal Qualities: A compassionate and non-judgmental approach, with a commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
