The RTW Program is designed to provide students who receive Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program (K-TAP) benefits with work opportunities on and off campus through a work-study program. By participating in this program, students can gain practical work experience in their field of study while earning a steady income that will not reduce their K-TAP benefits.

This is an excellent opportunity for students to build their skills, confidence, and resume, which can lead to full-time employment after graduation. The RTW Program offers various types of jobs, including:

  • On-campus positions: working in student service offices, labs, office assistant, testing monitor, building maintenance, and various other campus departments.
  • Off-campus positions: working in local elementary schools, small businesses, senior citizens centers, as thrift store attendants, in non-profit businesses, and various community service positions.

To be eligible for the RTW Program, students must receive K-TAP benefits and be enrolled in a degree or certificate program at Somerset Community College. This is a fantastic chance for students to explore different career paths, develop new skills, and earn money while pursuing their education.

As a participant in the RTW Program, you will have the opportunity to work in a variety of settings, including:

  • On-campus locations: Meece Building, Room -A, B, C, D, Somerset, KY
  • Off-campus locations: London, KY (Laurel South Campus)
