Principal Moderator

About the Role
The Principal Moderator is a key position at Pearson, responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of our assessment processes. As a Principal Moderator, you will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of our qualifications and ensuring that our standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the standardisation of Moderators and ensure that the standards of an externally assessed unit(s)/module(s)/component(s) are maintained and consistent with the unit specification and assessment criteria.
- Oversee the quality assurance process, including the sampling of supervisors'/Moderators' initial moderating and backread responses.
- Monitor the progress of supervisors/Moderators and provide feedback and support as needed.
- Act as a senior point of escalation across the quality assurance process.
- Support in awarding activities, including writing reports to the Awarding Committee and participating in the awarding activities.
Requirements
- Experience and knowledge of quality assurance and assessment practice.
- History of moderation and/or moderating a regulated qualification.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proven ability to provide and co-ordinate training such as standardisation and other standards-related activities.
- A comprehensive knowledge of the specification for your specialist sector, including internal and external requirements.
Desirable
- High level of IT proficiency.
- Leadership experience in delivering qualifications.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and requirements.
- Report writing within a regulated industry.
