Job Title: Support Worker for PMLD and ASC Students

About the Role:

\

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Support Worker to join our team at a special educational needs school in Brighton. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who have profound multiple learning difficulties, autism spectrum conditions, and ADHD.

\

Key Responsibilities:

\
  • \
  • SUPPORT pupils in both classroom and out-of-class environments, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.\
  • Develop positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents/carers to ensure a supportive and inclusive learning environment.\
  • FOLLOW the school's curriculum and lesson plans to provide engaging and effective support to pupils.\
  • COLLABORATE with teaching staff to identify individual pupil needs and develop targeted support strategies.\
  • MONITOR pupil progress, reporting any concerns or successes to relevant staff members.\
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil engagement, behavior, and progress.\
  • CONTRIBUTE to the creation and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) that cater to each pupil's unique needs.\
  • ADHERE to the school's policies and procedures regarding child protection, health and safety, and confidentiality.\
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge as a Support Worker.\
  • Engage in regular communication with colleagues, management, and external agencies to ensure seamless support services for pupils and families.\\-

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • \
  • A strong understanding of the needs and behaviors associated with PMLD, ASC, and ADHD.\
  • Experience working in a similar capacity, ideally within an educational setting.\
  • An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, along with valid Child Only Enhanced DBS certification.\
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.\
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.\
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting vulnerable individuals.\
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software applications relevant to the role.\
