Position Overview

We are seeking to recruit a Project Finance Associate to enhance our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities

The team represents a wide array of stakeholders, including sponsors, multilateral institutions, developers, equity investors, financial institutions, governmental bodies, contractors, utilities, and regulatory authorities in the procurement, development, financing, acquisition, construction, and operation of complex infrastructure and energy projects across various regions.

As part of a leading firm in the energy and natural resources sector, you will receive guidance from Partners and Legal Directors focused on your professional development. Candidates will engage in a diverse range of international projects.

Your responsibilities will encompass advising both private and public sector clients, funders, and consortia on project financing across all sectors. This includes structuring, drafting, and negotiating financing documents up to financial closure, as well as providing ongoing support to clients during the construction and operational phases.

You will also have the chance to participate in business development initiatives, including networking events and assisting in the creation of pitch materials.

Candidate Profile

While we do not impose strict PQE requirements, we suggest that candidates with approximately 2 to 4 years of experience may possess the necessary knowledge and expertise for this role. The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a qualified Solicitor, preferably qualified in England & Wales or a Commonwealth jurisdiction;
  • Have experience in drafting and negotiating a variety of finance documents, including common terms agreements and intercreditor arrangements, with minimal supervision;
  • Experience with development financial institutions and export credit agencies is advantageous;
  • Demonstrate a track record of involvement in complex multi-jurisdictional matters;
  • Exhibit strong technical legal drafting capabilities;
  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities for the firm, including repeat business;
  • Build and nurture a network of internal and external contacts;
  • Be commercially aware and stay informed on key legal and business developments;
  • Possess excellent communication, client relations, and teamwork skills;
  • Be aware of business development strategies within the department and seek ways to contribute;
  • Maintain a composed, objective, and adaptable approach under pressure;
  • Be proactive and innovative.
