Learning Support Assistant

At DUNBAR EDUCATION, we are seeking a dedicated and patient Learning Support Assistant to provide full-time support to children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism.
This role is crucial in helping students access their education and thrive in a supportive and inclusive environment.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with autism and hold a relevant qualification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with autism, ensuring they can engage fully in classroom activities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualized learning programs to meet the specific needs of each student.
- Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to adapt learning materials and strategies to ensure accessibility for all students.
- Help manage any social, emotional, or behavioral challenges students may face.
- Support students in developing independence and self-confidence in both academic and social settings.
- Keep accurate records of students' progress and communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and other staff.
- Assist with personal care tasks if needed, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
