About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our Canterbury CAMHS Community Team.

As a key member of the team, you will provide senior medical support and guidance, working directly with young people and their families, and liaison with other external CAMHS mental health providers and acute hospitals.

You will be responsible for participating in the on-call rota and supporting your peers and team leader, while allowing them to work with their own initiative.

This is a substantive, full-time post with 10 PAs and 7.5 SPA, currently vacant, and we wish to recruit to this post as soon as possible.

You will join another full-time CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist in the team.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Work as part of multidisciplinary teams providing care to children and young people with mental health needs, across Canterbury.
  2. Provide senior medical support and guidance to the team.
  3. Work directly with young people and their families and liaise as appropriate with other external CAMHS mental health providers and acute hospitals.
  4. Participate in the on-call rota.
  5. Support your peers and team leader, and be an effective team member while allowing them to work with their own initiative.

Requirements
  • CCT or equivalent.
  • Extensive knowledge of the biological, psychological, and social determinants of mental health disorders and evidence-based management interventions.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of recent DH documentation and NICE Guidelines.
  • An understanding of leadership and evidence of how this has been put into practice.
  • An awareness of NHS Plan, NSF, and clinical governance priorities.
