About the Role

Ashbury is seeking a highly skilled Product Safety Regulatory Advisor to join our Advisory Services Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing regulatory advice to Ashbury and its clients, ensuring products are legally compliant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide risk-based regulatory advice to Ashbury and its clients, ensuring products meet legal requirements.
  • Research and stay up-to-date with changes in the regulatory landscape, including new legislation, case law, and industry standards.
  • Review and advise on changes to client policies, considering new regulations and industry best practices.
  • Manage client complaints and enforcement challenges, providing risk-based recommendations.
  • Liaise with government agencies, industry bodies, and clients to ensure compliance and provide expert advice.
  • Deliver training on regulatory and technical topics to Ashbury and its clients.
  • Develop relationships with client technical and regulatory decision-makers, influencing and debating regulatory matters.
  • Attend client meetings to discuss regulatory affairs and provide expert advice.
  • Produce expert opinion content on subject matters for marketing and training purposes.
  • Present expert opinions on subject matters internally and externally.
  • Maintain and grow expertise in one or more subject areas.
  • Carry out product information services, including formulation, regulatory adaptations, and specification/pack copy review.
  • Execute performance checks and monitor and raise performance concerns.
  • Identify and communicate training needs.

Requirements

Knowledge

  • Degree-level educational qualification in product safety, consumer protection, consumer law, or a related field.
  • In-depth regulatory knowledge in product safety, including codes of practice, policies, guidance, and standards.
  • Excellent understanding of legal requirements, challenges, and consumer trends relating to product information.
  • Maintaining awareness of relevant changes in the regulatory environment due to new legislation, case law, codes of practice, and guidance.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a regulatory role within industry or trading standards/enforcement or a related field.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Fluent in spoken and written language required for market/region.
  • Demonstrable experience of independent working, managing your own workload, and time management.
  • Demonstrable risk-based decision-making.
  • Confident to apply requirements to product information and communicate decisions to clients.
  • Fluency in one or more other languages.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the retail and manufacturing side, including the product launch process.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of client PLM (Product Lifetime Management) systems and the product information advice we deliver to clients.
  • Excellent oral, written communication skills, including IT and presentation skills.
  • Able to explain complex requirements in a simple way.
  • Supports the growth of colleagues through training, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Able to risk assess a situation, providing a risk-appropriate solution which resolves the issue.
  • Ability to research and gather information using available resources.
  • Welcomes guidance and understands the commercial environment.
  • Stress resilient and able to work against tight deadlines.
