About the Role

Ashbury is seeking a highly skilled Product Safety Regulatory Advisor to join our Advisory Services Team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in providing regulatory advice to our clients, ensuring their products are legally compliant and meet the highest standards of safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regulatory Advice: Provide risk-based regulatory advice to Ashbury and its clients, ensuring products are compliant with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Research and Horizon Scanning: Research and stay up-to-date with changes and developments in the regulatory landscape, identifying potential risks and opportunities for our clients.
  • Policy Review and Advice: Review and advise on changes to Ashbury clients' policies, considering new regulations, guidance, and codes of practice.
  • Client Compliance Management: Manage client compliance, writing responses and resolving escalated and/or serious complaints.
  • Risk-Based Recommendations: Provide risk-based recommendations to complaints/enforcement challenges for Ashbury clients.
  • Product Recall/Withdrawal: Lead/support clients through product recall/withdrawal processes, producing information to support this process where required.
  • Liaison with Government Agencies: Liaise with central and local government agencies, industry bodies, and laboratories to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Training and Development: Deliver training on regulatory and technical topics to Ashbury and its clients.
  • Relationship Building: Develop relationships with client Technical/Regulatory decision makers, influencing and debating regulatory matters.
  • Client Meetings: Attend client meetings to discuss regulatory affairs.
  • Expert Opinion: Produce expert opinion content on subject matters, as required for marketing and training purposes.
  • Presentation and Communication: Present expert opinion on subject matters internally and externally.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Maintain and grow expertise in one or more subject areas, keeping up-to-date with legal requirements and labelling policies.
  • Product Information Services: Carry out product information services, such as formulation, regulatory adaptations, specification/pack copy review, artwork review, alignment, and branded product reviews for compliance.
  • Performance Checks: Execute performance checks and monitor and raise performance concerns.
  • Training Needs: Identify and communicate training needs.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Degree-level Educational Qualification: A degree-level educational qualification in product safety, consumer protection, consumer law, or a related field.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth regulatory knowledge in product safety, including codes of practice, policies, guidance, and standards.
  • Legal Requirements: Excellent understanding of legal requirements, challenges, and consumer trends relating to product information.
  • Regulatory Environment: Maintaining an awareness of relevant changes in the regulatory environment due to new legislation, case law, codes of practice, and guidance.
  • Application of Knowledge: Confident in applying knowledge and experience to advice, tailoring to the client and scenario.
Experience

You will need:

  • Regulatory Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience working in a regulatory role within industry or trading standards/enforcement or in a related field.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Market/Region Language: Fluent in spoken and written language required for market/region.
  • Independent Working: Demonstrable experience of independent working, managing your own workload and time management.
  • Risk-Based Decision Making: Demonstrable risk-based decision making.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral, written communication skills, including IT and presentation skills.
  • Complex Requirements: Able to explain complex requirements in a simple way.
