Telecommunications Software Engineer

Join NPL in its mission to secure the UK's telecommunications networks and accelerate the roll-out of 5G. As a Telecommunications Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing bespoke tooling and providing technical expertise across teams.
Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled software developer to join our team at NPL. The successful candidate will have experience working with modern interpreted and compiled programming languages, including C++, Python, and related languages. You will be responsible for developing CLI and web applications, debugging & troubleshooting, IDE & OS Basics, test driven development, clean code & refactoring, version control, CI / CD, alerting & monitoring, Functional & Non-Functional Testing.
Required Skills and QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have a unique blend of skills and qualifications, including:
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and architecture
- Experience with high-performance application design and development in C++, Python, and related languages
- Conducting security research and developing solutions for 5G networks
- Familiarity with latest high-end telecommunications hardware and performance machines
NPL offers a competitive salary range of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience. We also offer flexible working arrangements, a great work-life balance, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
OthersThe role is based in Birmingham, with hybrid working options available. Successful applicants must be able to commute to the UKTL offices in Birmingham.
