About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Product Development Team at Professional Technical Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing sustainable products that meet the needs of our company while minimizing environmental impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Develop Sustainable Products: Utilize your expertise in mechanical engineering to design and develop products that are not only functional but also sustainable.
  • Conduct Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough research and analysis to identify opportunities for enhancing the sustainability of our products and processes.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with our Product Development and Product Management Teams to ensure that sustainability principles are embedded into the product design and development process.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Industry Trends: Keep abreast of the latest trends and innovations in sustainability and integrate relevant practices into our design and development activities.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that our products are designed to comply with regulatory standards and achieve specified levels of safety, functionality, and reliability.
  • Develop Comprehensive Manufacturing Specifications: Create detailed manufacturing specifications, including drawings and engineering bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Provide Sustainability Metrics: Provide sustainability metrics to monitor and report on the environmental impact of proposed solutions.
Requirements
  • Proven Experience: Proven experience in creating sustainable design solutions or working in a design-for-sustainability role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with 3D CAD software (ideally SolidWorks) and competence in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Education: BTEC in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Desirable Skills: BTEC Higher National Diploma in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, completion of an engineering apprenticeship, or familiarity with machined brass components and tolerancing.
