Key Responsibilities:
  • **Lead Design and Development:** Lead the design, development, and launch of strategic projects, ensuring that products meet regulatory standards and performance criteria for safety, functionality, and reliability.
  • **Sustainability and Innovation:** Incorporate sustainability objectives into new product designs, collaborating with cross-functional teams to accelerate the product development process.
  • **Technical Expertise:** Utilize 3D CAD software (SolidWorks) to produce models, technical drawings, and specifications, and provide technical expertise and guidance on design-related issues to the broader product development team.
  • **Project Management:** Supervise and contribute to the validation and testing phases of product development, ensuring that design solutions meet both financial and functional requirements.
  • **Communication and Collaboration:** Maintain effective and professional communication with colleagues, and assist in the development and commercialisation of new technologies and innovations.
Requirements:
  • **Experience:** At least 5 years experience as a Design Engineer within the consumer goods or appliance industry.
  • **Qualifications:** A BTEC Higher National Certificate in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
  • **Skills:** Proficiency in 3D CAD, with a preference for experience in Sustainable Design, strong technical report writing skills, and experience working with plastic materials in design.
  • **Personal Qualities:** Ability to manage tight deadlines and budgets, capable of working both independently and as part of a team, proactive, curious, and positive approach.
