Job Overview

The Academic Support Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless administration of Fashion Business Postgraduate courses at Istituto Marangoni.

This dynamic role involves close collaboration with the Programme Leader to oversee the organisation of all academic activities and provide vital support in programme supervision, progress, and performance.

As a key member of the team, you will contribute to maintaining high student satisfaction levels while coordinating academic activities related to the course and tutors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administrative Support: Ensure the smooth operation of programme administration, checking weekly lessons and activities delivered by tutors.
  • Daily Organisation: Assist in the daily organisation of the programme, guaranteeing effective coordination and communication.
  • Delivery, Monitoring, and Assessment: Support the delivery, monitoring, and assessment processes of academic programmes to the required quality standard.
  • Liaison and Coordination: Liaise with various departments and tutors within the school to maintain programme quality and standards.
  • Timetable Management: Coordinate and manage academic timetables and teaching space availability.
  • Management Information: Provide timely and accurate management information as required by the Programme Leader.
  • Examination Support: Assist and liaise with External Examiners to support the examination process.
  • Professional Development: Support the professional development planning for Masters students regarding career development.
  • Record-Keeping: Maintain an accurate record system of all documents related to the programme.
  • Pedagogic Activity: Support pedagogic activity.

Education and Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree.
  • Previous experience in a similar or administrative support position.
  • Experience in the creative industries or similar environments is beneficial.
  • Ability to deal sensitively with a range of enquiries and needs.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of the UK Higher Education system.
  • Knowledge of Fashion Business as a discipline or a strong interest in it.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office package.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity.
