Maintenance Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Booker Retail Partners. This exciting opportunity will see you working in our Fareham Distribution Centre, reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting general repairs and planned maintenance to the site and equipment, ensuring the Distribution Centre meets legal compliance for maintenance, and maintaining accurate records for building and equipment maintenance.
The ideal candidate will have a background in building services or facilities, with knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, or refrigeration. You will be required to work in a fast-paced 24/7 environment, with call-outs and weekend work necessary when required.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct general maintenance and repair throughout the Distribution Centre, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
- Ensure our Distribution Centre meets legal compliance for maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records for building and equipment maintenance.
- Manage third-party service contracts effectively.
- Monitor and manage maintenance spend within budget.
- Provide timely updates to site management.
- Manage contractors on site, including vetting, risk assessments, and permit to work.
- TEC/City & Guilds or time-served apprenticeship in Electrical/Mechanical environment or building services.
- Ability to travel regularly.
- Good working knowledge of building services, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Experience of working to required H&S standards.
- IOSH Managing Safely certification.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of racking systems would be beneficial.
