Clerical Officer

About the Role
The Clerical Officer will provide frontline welcome, support, information, and signposting to patients being treated and living with a cancer diagnosis, as well as patients who have non-malignant blood conditions.
The role will involve working in an office-based environment, booking appointments, and managing telephone systems. The Clerical Officer will also work closely with other admin teams, including treatment booking teams, clinic coordinators, medical secretaries, nurse specialist support teams, and MDT coordinators.
Main Responsibilities
- To welcome patients to the department, ensuring that patient information held is correct and that the attendance is recorded on Medway/Mosaiq.
- Liaise with patients, wards, clinical staff, GPs, and Trust support staff in person, via telephone, and email as and when necessary.
- Escalate patient queries, capacity problems, and general issues to the role's line manager or relevant clinical staff as appropriate.
- To be a point of contact for 'Outpatient' and 'Treatment Bookings' telephone calls into the department.
- To carry out associated clerical duties, for example, call handling, outcoming clinic appointments, booking bloods, managing the team inbox, and covering outpatient reception desks.
- Keep patient information materials up to date and attend appropriate meetings as required by the role's line manager.

Qualifications and Training
- Educated to GCSE, grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths
