Job Title: Graduate Teaching Assistant - SEMH Specialist



About the Role:



Prospero Teaching is seeking a passionate and ambitious Psychology Graduate with a passion for supporting students with SEMH needs in an alternative provision in Bury. The students here are aged 11 - 16, and it is essential that you have experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs or PTSD.



Position Details:




  • Location: Bury
  • Position: Graduate Teaching Assistant
  • Type of work: General Teaching Assistant work with small groups of Children with SEMH needs
  • Position start date: ASAP
  • Duration: Temporary
  • Full time: Yes
  • Minimum rate: £90 per day
  • Hours: 8:30 am - 4pm: Monday - Friday (term time only)


Responsibilities:




  • Working with and providing support to children with SEN (Special Educational Needs)
  • Experience of supporting pupils with SEMH needs
  • The willingness to provide an environment in which pupils can reach their full potential
  • The ability to build rapport with the children, supporting their social and behavioural needs, and acting as a mentor


Requirements:




  • Psiology (BA Hons) degree
  • Enhanced DBS (clean and relevant) Can be obtained through Prospero Teaching
  • Safeguarding, prevent awareness & FGM training - essential
  • Behaviour management training - desirable
  • A committed and enthusiastic attitude to work
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to form new relationships
  • Previous experience working with young people
  • Good knowledge of SEMH needs
