We are seeking an experienced Emotional Support Specialist to join our team at GSL Education. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the emotional and psychological well-being of students, helping them navigate their educational journey with confidence and support.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting students with mental health needs, working closely with teachers, parents and other support staff to provide a nurturing and understanding environment. Our ideal candidate will have experience working in a similar support role, preferably with children with autism or special educational needs.

This is a full-time/part-time position that requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection. The salary range for this role is £76.92 - £95.68 per day. We offer access to specialised training programs to enhance your skills related to mental health and continuous support from a dedicated consultant.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide compassionate and targeted support to students experiencing mental health challenges, fostering a safe and supportive atmosphere.
  • Implement one-on-one and small-group interventions tailored to each student's specific mental health needs.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons, ensuring the inclusion and engagement of students with mental health needs.
  • Employ effective strategies to manage crises and emotional outbursts, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
  • Track and document student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and contributing to the development of personalised support plans.
  • Stay abreast of the latest educational practices and Autism Spectrum Disorder strategies, engaging in continuous professional development.
