Specialist Nurse in Sexual Health for Learning Disabilities

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Nurse in Sexual Health for Learning Disabilities to join our team at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialist Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality sexual health services to people with learning disabilities, promoting their health and wellbeing, and reducing health inequalities.
Key Responsibilities
- Improving access and bridging gaps for people with learning disabilities to sexual health advice, information, and clinical services.
- Providing free, confidential, and supported access to sexual health clinics for people with learning disabilities and their carers.
- Working in the community, supporting family carers and support workers, and other involved professionals.
- Providing reasonable adjustments to support patients, such as longer consultations, easy-read information, and accessible services.
- Supporting health, social, and VCS networks to identify people with learning disabilities and improve engagement and planning care.
- Delivering community outreach sessions, providing relationships and sex education, asymptomatic STI screening in community learning disability settings, and other services.
Requirements
- Registration as a Nurse with the NMC.
- University certificate or equivalent in Sexual Health training.
- DFRSH/University Certificate in Contraception/Reproductive Health or equivalent recognized training.
- Independent Nurse Prescriber or willingness to train.
- Experience of working in Sexual Health and with people with learning disabilities.
- Ability to work autonomously and be self-directed.
- Clear vision and in-depth understanding of the quality agenda with working with people with learning disabilities.
- Teaching and presentation skills.
- Proficient IT skills.
- Ability to work and communicate successfully in a complex and rapidly changing environment.
