About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Freelance Interpreter to work with us in Preston, Lancashire. As a Freelance Interpreter, you will play a crucial role in facilitating communication between individuals who speak different languages.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will have excellent language skills, both written and spoken, and be able to interpret in various settings, including the NHS, Local Authorities, Police, Probation, and other public and private organisations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret for individuals using legal, health, and local government services
  • Verify the non-English speaker's understanding after each sentence
  • Conduct conference, consecutive, and public service interpreting
  • Deal with highly confidential information
  • Liaise between the service user and service provider
Requirements
  • Fluency in English and another language
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Aged 21 or over
  • Formal qualifications such as a Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI), Community Interpreting, NRPSI, CIOL, ITI registration, or a Degree in Translation/Interpreting/Languages
