Job Overview

Bristol City Council is seeking a motivated individual to supervise a team responsible for delivering a programme of improvements, repairs, and/or maintenance projects to the council's stock of dwellings, buildings, and land managed by Housing & Landlord Services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and control programmes end-to-end, including contract administration of contracts associated with domestic property kitchen refurbishment and rewiring programmes.
  • Manage a team of staff, hold meetings with contractors, and authorise payments.
  • Monitor quality, and use Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to hold contractors to account.
  • Be responsible for asset and investment strategies, including external works and fire safety.

Requirements

  • HNC or equivalent qualification in a relevant construction field, plus further relevant practical experience, or equivalent knowledge and skill demonstrated from significant relevant experience in a building, surveying, or similar construction-related environment.
  • Comprehensive experience of effective supervision of professional and technical staff, contractors, sub-contractors, or developers.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety issues and requirements related to the Construction Industry, including CDM Regs.
  • Ability to take ownership and be accountable for all aspects of the service/project/programme from end-to-end, ensuring delivery within timescales, high quality, and excellent customer satisfaction in the Social Housing environment.
  • Comfortable challenging poor workmanship and poor performance, and able to manage a team to manage a programme of works, working to budgetary and time constraints.
