Senior Tax Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Tax Manager to join our team in Taunton. As a key member of our tax team, you will be responsible for leading a team of tax professionals and delivering a high standard of service to our tax clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Partners and Directors to lead a thriving tax team.
  • Deliver a high standard of service to tax clients, primarily personal tax matters for high-net-worth individuals.
  • Review tax calculations and lead tax planning, primarily for non-domicile, inheritance, and estates.
  • Lead HMRC queries, working directly with clients in the preparation of defence work.
  • Deliver sound technical knowledge, including capital gains tax planning and trust tax compliance.
  • Support the firm's strategic direction by scoping new business opportunities.
  • Liaise with clients as their go-to advisor, building trusted and long-lasting relationships.
  • Review efficiencies and recommend new processes to improve workflow and ROI.
  • Review the work of junior team members, providing supportive mentorship.
  • Set an example to the tax team as a proactive and hands-on Manager.

The Successful Applicant:

  • Qualified with extensive tax management experienced within practice.
  • Experienced in tax calculations and planning for high-net-worth individuals.
  • Experienced in leading HMRC enquiries, including preparation of defence statements.
  • Previous supervisory experience, with strong people management skills.
  • Able to build a strong rapport with clients, being their go-to advisor.
  • Excellent IT skills and knowledge.
  • Strong leadership skills with a natural ability to inspire those around you.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail and sound organisation skills.
