Job Title: Clinical Pharmacist

Penryn Surgery is seeking an experienced Clinical Pharmacist to join our team as a Medicines Management Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing effective medicines management strategies to improve patient care and safety.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage medicines management plans and patient services in accordance with practice policy and national guidance.
  • Lead the medicines management team, including delivery of training and development of cost-effective prescribing strategies.
  • Provide clinical supervision and professional leadership to the medicines management staff.
  • Manage repeat prescribing reauthorisation procedures, including reviewing requests for repeat prescriptions and medicines reaching their review date.
  • Implement and manage the repeat dispensing system for the practice, including developing and implementing paper prescribing systems using SystmOne.
  • Manage medicines queries from patients and healthcare professionals, and implement drug alerts and withdrawals as necessary.
  • Undertake Medicines Use Reviews and support medication review processes, including the identification and management of problematic polypharmacy.
  • Provide regular support and feedback to practice on prescribing action plans, and produce quarterly reports on practice progress to the lead GP for medicines management.
  • Advise the primary health care team on the safe and secure handling of controlled drugs and other medicines, ensuring compliance with medicines legislation.
Requirements:
  • Pharmacist qualification and 3 years post-qualification experience.
  • Independent Prescriber qualification desirable.
  • Primary care experience desirable.
Working Arrangements:

The post-holder will work flexible hours and be able to travel independently to meet the needs of the job. The post-holder will be expected to work within the practice policies and protocols, adhere to the terms and conditions of the PMS contract, and abide by all current legislation and/or regulations.
