About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Allied Health Professional/Nurse to join our team as a Stroke Rehabilitation Consultant. This is an exciting opportunity to enhance inpatient care and discharge from hospital of patients undergoing rehabilitation following a stroke.

The Stroke Rehabilitation Unit, where the post is situated, is a 16-bedded unit caring for patients with stroke rehabilitation potential who have been transferred from the Acute Stroke Unit. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for the development and leadership of the rehabilitation beds on the stroke rehabilitation unit, including admission, discharge and patient care.

You will work closely with our Consultant Physiotherapist to facilitate the development of a co-ordinated service for patients with stroke, and for those needing stroke-rehabilitation within the area. You will also maintain and develop relationships with external partners to optimise transitions of care.

This is a fixed-term contract for 24 months. We are looking for a suitably qualified applicant from Nursing and AHP backgrounds who is passionate about the holistic, multidisciplinary care and rehabilitation of patients who have experienced a stroke.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the rehabilitation beds on the stroke rehabilitation unit
  • Be responsible for a defined caseload of patients
  • Work across the entire stroke pathway to facilitate the development of a co-ordinated service
  • Maintain and develop relationships with external partners

Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Allied Health Professional/Nurse who has a passion for stroke rehabilitation. You will have a strong background in Nursing or AHP and be able to demonstrate excellent leadership and communication skills.
