About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Lawyer to join our team at the South London Partnership. As a key member of our property law team, you will play a crucial role in managing a diverse workload, including complex and high-profile matters related to new build housing, regeneration projects, and asset management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of property lawyers, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality legal services.
  • Provide expert advice on property-related matters, including negotiations and governance processes.
  • Oversee the work of the property law team, ensuring that all tasks are completed to a high standard and within agreed deadlines.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the team's skills and knowledge in property law.
  • Collaborate with senior officers and Members to provide legal advice and support.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A proven track record in local government matters, either in a council or private practice.
  • Excellent communication and drafting skills, with the ability to provide legal advice to a variety of audiences.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex and high-profile matters.
