Lead Maintenance Engineer

As a Lead Maintenance Engineer with a reputable company in the heavy industry sector, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing both reactive and planned maintenance activities. This will ensure the operational efficiency and reliability of critical equipment. You will lead a skilled maintenance team and collaborate closely with production to minimize downtime and enhance overall performance.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the maintenance of all critical plant and machinery, including both reactive and preventive tasks.
- Lead the planning and implementation of scheduled maintenance activities to optimize operational uptime.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to troubleshoot recurring issues and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities are documented accurately, maintaining up-to-date records for audits and operational transparency.
- Manage and coordinate external contractors for specialist maintenance or major overhauls, ensuring all work is completed to high safety and quality standards.
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure minimal disruption to manufacturing processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Train, mentor, and lead a team of maintenance engineers, fostering a culture of teamwork and technical excellence.
- Participate in the design, upgrade, installation, and relocation of machinery as required, ensuring all equipment operates to optimal standards.
- A recognized engineering qualification (electrical or mechanical), with strong multiskilled knowledge.
- Proven experience in a senior maintenance role, ideally within a heavy industry or similar manufacturing environment.
- Extensive knowledge of reactive and planned maintenance practices.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and lead a team.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations and best practices in maintenance.
