Technical Computing Degree Apprentice Position Overview

Excelitas Technologies is seeking a highly motivated and self-driven Technical Computing Degree Apprentice to join our Design and Development team in North Wales. As a Technical Computing Degree Apprentice, you will be responsible for developing engineering processes and working closely with our world-class team of design engineers, operations personnel, and business group members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with the design engineering team on technical matters
  • Software development, including developing technical software for design engineering in optics and optical manufacturing
  • Administering and enhancing a company-wide PLM system
  • Providing 3rd party software support to design engineers

Requirements:

  • High level of general education with minimum of 2 x B grades at A-Level (excluding General Studies)
  • Proficiency in Mathematics and Physics with at least one A-level in Mathematics and/or Physics
  • GSCE qualifications in Mathematics and Science at grade B or above, and English at grade C or above
  • High computer literacy

Personal Specification:

  • Strong attention to detail, good inter-personal skills, and excellent communication skills
  • Experience of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent time-keeping
  • Driving Licence
  • Ability to time manage completing external qualifications while working full-time
