Job Title: Qualified Youth Justice Officer

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Qualified Youth Justice Officer to join our team at HCRG Workforce Solutions. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for working with children and young people who are subject to early intervention, prevention, and youth justice services.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Undertake assessments, develop, coordinate, implement, monitor, and review intervention plans with children and young people and their families, including challenging and complex cases.
  2. Work in partnership with various statutory and voluntary agencies to reduce the risk of offending, re-offending, and/or harm to themselves or to the public.
  3. Ensure clear structured exit strategies are in place for all cases on closure to the service.
  4. Keep accurate and up-to-date case records, including electronic records, statistics, and other information meeting the requirements of the service and its partner agencies.
  5. Act as duty officer, evaluating and responding to new referrals, taking appropriate action, and giving advice, information, and assistance, including undertaking the role of Appropriate Adult as defined in the Police & Criminal Evidence Act 1984.
  6. Act as court and bail duty officer, providing information to the Court, the Crown Prosecution Service, defence solicitors, and other court users, prosecuting breaches of court orders, and representing the service in court.

Requirements:

  • A relevant professional or degree-level qualification (NVQ 4) associated with one of the partner agencies.
  • A minimum of 2/8 posts in the service must have a recognised social work qualification.
  • Professional Certificate in Effective Practice (youth justice).
  • Able to work outside normal office hours, including evenings and occasional Saturday and Bank Holiday court cover.
