We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our operations team at our Tarmac Cairneyhill Quarry and Asphalt Plant. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all quarrying operations, ensuring safety and operational standards are met, and driving business performance.
Main Responsibilities- Manage and be accountable for all quarrying operations on the site, including providing assistance to the Asphalt plant as needed.
- Ensure safety and operational standards are maintained, with a focus on cost control, people management, delivery to customer needs, and performance improvement.
- Manage plant compliance with business policies and procedures, and ensure legislative compliance.
- Lead change and continuous improvement initiatives, while maintaining disciplined stock management processes and producing operational reports.
- Manage, coach, and develop a highly skilled team to ensure business continuity and reduce business risk.
- Understand different methods of winning and extracting raw material, and knowledge of techniques employed to load extracted minerals and viable options to transport extracted minerals.
- Manage and oversee the safe operation of the plant and the planned preventative maintenance of all site equipment, fixed and mobile.
- Reporting and investigating any unsafe or hazardous working practices, and issuing safety briefings and toolbox talks to the operational team.
- Managing proactively both mandatory training and developmental training of staff, and keeping an up-to-date training matrix.
- Collating and reporting on monthly performance KPIs for the business unit, and driving operational performance through KPIs.
- Ensuring appropriate contractor and visitor inductions are carried out in line with company procedures.
- Diploma in Quarry Technology or equivalent experience in quarrying operations.
- Highly experienced in quarrying operations or asphalt operations.
- IOSH/NEBOSH certification would be advantageous.
- Full knowledge of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Working knowledge of production processes, H&S, and environmental policies.
- Strong IT skills, including a high level of competence with SAP and Microsoft packages.
- Ability to multitask and manage change.
