Mental Health Support Worker Role Overview

About the Role

GSL Education is collaborating with a prestigious school in Eastleigh to recruit a dedicated Mental Health Support Worker. This rewarding position offers the opportunity to contribute to the emotional and psychological well-being of students, helping them navigate their educational journey with confidence and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate and targeted support to students experiencing mental health challenges, fostering a safe and supportive atmosphere.
  • Implement one-on-one and small group interventions tailored to each student's specific mental health needs.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons, ensuring the inclusion and engagement of students with mental health needs.
  • Employ effective strategies to manage crises and emotional outbursts, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
  • Track and document student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and contributing to the development of personalised support plans.

Essential Qualities

  • Have experience working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • Exhibit excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Possess a high degree of empathy, patience, and understanding when dealing with students facing mental health issues.

Requirements

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Provide an updated CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or be willing to apply for one.
