Mental Health Support Worker Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to join our team at GSL Education. As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting students with mental health needs, working closely with teachers, parents, and other support staff to provide a nurturing and understanding environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted support to students experiencing mental health challenges, fostering a safe and supportive atmosphere.
  • Implement one-on-one and small group interventions tailored to each student's specific mental health needs.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons, ensuring the inclusion and engagement of students with mental health needs.
  • Employ effective strategies to manage crises and emotional outbursts, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
  • Track and document student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and contributing to the development of personalised support plans.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • High degree of empathy, patience, and understanding when dealing with students facing mental health issues.
