We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Offender Healthcare service, you will play a vital role in providing specialist mental healthcare to offenders and working closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct robust assessments and deliver interventions to service users with mental health and neurodevelopmental needs.
- Ensure timely delivery of waiting times, assessments, and interventions, contributing to the achievement of service performance targets.
- Collaborate with specialist services, including continuity of care and through-the-gate arrangements, to ensure seamless care pathways.
- Work closely with community mental health teams to ensure appropriate sharing of information, continuity of care, and the Care Programme Approach for all service users.
- Provide comprehensive and timely reports and mental health expertise to multi-agency public protection panels, police, probation services, solicitors, and court liaison teams.
- Deliver active clinical leadership and supervision within the team, covering for the manager and colleagues as required.
- Participate in resource centre services, delivering psychological therapy and specialist activities under the direction of the clinical lead.
- Work in a psychologically minded way with service users to achieve their agreed goals and quality health outcomes.
- Cultivate close working relationships with all prison staff, including participation in sentence planning, resettlement, safer custody, and the ACCT processes.
- Develop and take on a specialist lead role as appropriate, providing peer support and training in this area.
- Contribute to support, advice, consultation, and training for prison staff.
