Role Overview

Ipsos Public Affairs Crime and Justice team collaborates with clients from the criminal justice sector to understand public and system perspectives. Our high-quality research informs policy, practice, and communications within the sector.

We are seeking an Evaluation Director to join our Crime & Justice team, delivering impactful evaluation studies across policy areas, including:

  • Crime (domestic abuse, serious violence, youth crime, victim support, anti-social behaviour, modern slavery)
  • Justice and the justice system (probations, prisons, courts, tribunals)
  • Security issues (economic crime, cyber-crime, counter extremism, state threats)
  • Migration (regular and irregular migration, refugees, integration, cohesion)

Key Responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced evaluator to lead high-profile studies and grow our business.

As an Evaluation Director, you will play a crucial role in business development, leading on winning proposals and identifying growth opportunities, while supporting the team and wider management of the business.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading large, multi-strand evaluations through the project cycle
  • Developing strategic client and partner relationships
  • Contributing to business strategy and financial targets
  • Directing evaluation projects, drafting reports, and presenting results to clients and stakeholders
  • Representing Ipsos externally, speaking at conferences, and engaging with media
  • Line management of senior staff

We have offices in London, Manchester, and Edinburgh, and invite applications from candidates willing to work in one of these locations and travel to other sites when required.

Ipsos UK offers a hybrid working environment, with three days in the office and remote work.

Requirements

We are looking for someone with:

  • Good knowledge of quantitative and qualitative approaches to evaluation problems
  • Knowledge of policy areas, including counter terrorism, hate crime, and cyber-crime
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver projects to timescale and budgets
  • Experience of leading winning research and evaluation proposals
  • Strong client relationship management skills
  • Confident written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
