About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Water Resources Planner to join our dynamic team at South West Water. As a key member of our Water Resources Strategy team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development and implementation of comprehensive water resources management strategies for our operating regions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Senior Water Resource planners in producing key deliverables, such as the Water Resources Management Plan (WRMP), to a high standard.
  • Interpret the results of modelling undertaken by the Modelling Data and Systems team to forecast future water availability and its impact on factors like climate, water quality, and environmental sustainability.
  • Support the assessment and prioritisation of water resources projects, such as reservoirs, treatment plants, and distribution systems, to meet future water demands and enhance system resilience.
  • Review data around future water availability and liaise with stakeholders to ensure the future needs of water users and the environment are met.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports, presentations, and technical documents.
  • Be involved in the preparation of company annual reviews to evaluate performance against the WRMP.

Requirements:

  • Scientific/Environmental/related Degree.
  • Familiarity with water resources planning.
  • A developing understanding of using water resources system models such as Miser, Aquator, or PYWR.
  • Experience of stakeholder engagement and collaboration.
  • Experience of working in a regulatory environment – regulatory reporting and compliance.
