We're seeking a Director of AI Engineering to join our team and drive innovation in speech recognition technology. As a key member of our leadership team, you'll be responsible for shaping our product roadmap, identifying high-impact research opportunities, and guiding our engineering teams to deliver world-class results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Spearhead machine learning research and development to drive innovation in speech recognition technology
  • Develop and implement a forward-looking vision for machine learning at Speechmatics, aligning research priorities with our ambitious product roadmap
  • Leverage expertise in modern machine learning methodologies, including advanced transformer architectures and distributed training systems
  • Cultivate an environment where engineers and researchers thrive, developing their skills through coaching, feedback, and exposure to challenging technical problems

About You

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in machine learning research and development
  • Demonstrated expertise in modern machine learning methodologies, including transformer architectures and distributed training systems
  • Strong communication and writing skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences
