We are seeking an experienced Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our Blood Transfusion Laboratory team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the daily management and quality of the Blood Transfusion department, ensuring a high-quality service is provided to our patients.
Main Responsibilities- Manage and supervise Biomedical Scientists, trainees, and medical laboratory assistants, providing guidance and training to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, policies, and procedures, maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
- Communicate effectively with the team, Lead Biomedical Scientists, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration and high-quality results.
- Participate in team meetings, taking the lead as necessary, and contribute to the development of departmental policies and procedures.
- Conduct and coordinate technical meetings, ensuring that all relevant information is shared and action plans are implemented.
- Plan and prioritize work to ensure timely reporting of results, deputizing for the absence of other Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientists.
- HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
- Experience working in a Blood Transfusion department, with a strong understanding of quality standards and policies.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on quality and patient safety.
- Knowledge of LIMS systems and experience with troubleshooting equipment and results.
- Ability to train and develop junior staff, with a strong commitment to ongoing professional development.
