Biomedical Scientist

We are seeking an experienced HCPC Registered Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our Blood Transfusion Laboratory team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the daily management, quality, and training within the Blood Transfusion department, as well as providing a high-quality service to our patients.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the daily operations of the Blood Transfusion department, ensuring high-quality results and efficient service delivery.
- Supervise and train Biomedical Scientists, trainees, and Medical Laboratory Assistants, promoting professional development and excellence.
- Practice as a Senior Specialist HCPC Registered BMS, providing expert advice and guidance to colleagues.
- Apply professional judgment and utilize specialist skills to ensure timely and accurate results.
- Maintain quality standards and compliance with BSQR, ensuring the department's policies and procedures are followed.
- Establish and maintain effective communication within the team, ensuring the smooth running of the service.
- Support staff in answering complex enquiries and provide guidance on departmental policies and procedures.
- Participate in team meetings, taking the lead as required, and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Communicate regularly with Lead BMS's to ensure high-quality standards and the smooth running of the department.
- Conduct, coordinate, and minute departmental technical meetings as required.
- HCPC registration and a MSc Biomedical Sciences Degree, with the BBTS qualification.
- Demonstrated high-level knowledge and commitment to maintaining and developing a quality service in their specialization.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with excellent written and spoken English.
- Experience with the mentioned analysers would be an advantage.
- Able to plan and prioritize own workload, with IT literacy and experience of LIMS systems.
