We are seeking a dynamic Clinical Coding Training Manager to lead our clinical coding training program in collaboration with our well-established audit team.



The successful candidate will work closely with Senior Management to assess departmental and individual training needs, designing and delivering a comprehensive training program that supports our vision of creating a structured pathway for trainee coders.



The post holder will have responsibility for the management and delivery of a comprehensive training programme to the Trust's clinical coding department, implementing and delivering regular approved training sessions for clinical coders, external NHS customers, clinicians, and managers.



Key duties include advising and assisting in the implementation of new guidance and standards, ensuring local policies and guidance are updated to best serve the needs of the Organisation, and which conform to national coding standards.



The post holder will also be responsible for the day-to-day management of Clinical Coding Training team and clinical coding trainees, planning, organising and delivering the Organisation's training programme for the Clinical Coding department.



This includes the Clinical Coding Trainee programme, Revision programme, Refresher Courses, Classifications and Standard updates, specialty-based workshops and individual or ad-hoc training needs.

Qualifications

Essential


  • NHSE clinical coding approved clinical coding trainer
  • Valid TAP Certificate in Training Delivery
  • NCCQ - National Clinical Coding Qualification


Desirable


  • Formal qualification in remote training delivery/online facilitation
  • Registration with health informatics professional body e.g. IHRIM, APHA


Experience

Essential


  • Has experience of developing bespoke training packages
  • Substantial NHS acute setting experience within clinical coding


Knowledge

Essential


  • In depth anatomy knowledge
  • Knowledge and understanding of HRGs and NTPS (national tariff payment system)
  • OPCS and ICD10 knowledge covering broad range of specialties
